The Role of Genetics in Personalizing Healthcare
January 29, 2020 –

Have you heard of AncestryDNA or 23andMe? These genetic testing services provide reports on ancestry linkages, and on genetic predispositions to selected health conditions. In this class we will focus on how genetic testing can impact healthcare. We will learn about the role of individual genetics in the way medications work, and how genetic information can play an important part in making your healthcare more personal. Betty Chaffee will discuss the steps you can take to make your medications fit your life, including how genetic information is interpreted and used, and why this new frontier of medicine can be crucial in the treatment of common health problems.
