Maintaining good health takes a fair amount of effort. We depend on information we learn about diet, physical activity, air quality, infectious diseases, and more. For those of us who take prescription medications, our health also depends on knowledge about those meds.
Pharmacist-Provided Counseling
Many of you have heard me speak publicly (or privately) about the importance of pharmacist-provided education and counseling. Research has shown that meeting regularly with your pharmacist can help you stay healthier and spend less money on overall healthcare. Knowing more about the risks and benefits of meds can help you have better conversations with your doctor about your health. And pharmacists have a knack for making med regimens less complicated.
My vision for community pharmacy practice is that every person who needs prescriptions meds has a team of pharmacists and technicians they know and trust. Those pharmacists fill their prescriptions accurately, and give them the information they need to get the best health outcomes from them. What side effects to watch for, how to be sure they're working, when and how to talk with their doctor about the treatment plan.
The Vision Becomes Reality!
Better My Meds is teaming up with Jensen's Community Pharmacy, with stores in both Saline and Dexter, MI, to provide patients a fuller array of pharmacy services! Our pharmacy practices have had a professional relationship for several years, and now we want to be sure everyone knows about it. For those of you who live close, you now have easy access to both a professional, independent community pharmacy AND the education and counseling service you need to get the best value from your meds. Take a look atthis short videoannouncing our affiliation.
Better My Meds has always promoted the advantages of independent pharmacy practices like Jensen's. We're lucky to still have independent pharmacies in our area -- most communities aren't so fortunate. Jensen's, like other independent pharmacies, is focused on patient care. You won't see rows and rows of non-medical products for sale. But you will get reliable, trustworthy professionals who care about your health.
And now, when you have questions about your medications and health that don't have easy answers, the Jensen's staff will suggest you contact us. Brochures and business cards will be available right there in the pharmacies so it'll be easy for you to reach us. No need to continue wondering if you really still need all those meds. Or to wish your doctor had time to explain why they want you to take this new med, or whatit's supposed to do for you. You won't have to go to the internet, hoping for a good source to give you accurate drug information. You'll get accurate, trustworthy, in-depth information from a Jensen's team member.
The vision Better My Meds and Jensen's Community Pharmacies have for pharmacist-provided care isn't unique. True, it's not commonly seen in our area, or even in the state of Michigan. But pharmacies across the US have been moving slowly in this direction for a while. Maybe one day, community pharmacies will routinely provide a full array of pharmacy-based healthcare. Just as important, maybe one day pharmacists will be able to bill health insurers for time spent counseling, just like other healthcare providers.
Better My Meds is here for you, no matter what pharmacy you use!
Better My Meds is still an independent Medication Management Service. You don't need to be a customer of Jensen's Community Pharmacies to make an appointment. If youhave questions about your medications, we're here to help! And if you wonder about the quality of care you'll receive, take a look at ourGoogle Reviewsto get a better idea.
